History of the Orchestra....

The UDSSO was established in September 2000 by Richard Moore, Musical Director of Birmingham Dental School Music Society (BDSMS). It followed on from the mission of BDSMS to provide Dental Students with an avenue to pursue their musical abilities throughout their rigorous undergradute training.

Therefore in early September of 2000 the BDSMS committee set to work to try and organise an inaugural performance by a united orchestra of dental students, dentists and postgraduate students in Birmingham. The task was mammouth, encouraging responses were received from many dental schools and also students.

Unfortunately, as time progressed some schools were unable to attend due to academic committments which were beyond their control.

However, the inaugural concert was a complete success, with funds being raised for a local charity in Birmingham - St Mary's Hospice, and also a national charity - Dentaid UK.

See concert details for more information regarding the inaugural and future concerts.
